PORCELAIN

Porcelain manufacturers operate in a highly demanding environment: bases and feet of plates, bowls and cups must be perfectly smooth to protect tables, other pieces and brand reputation. At the same time, production lines must run efficiently, with minimal downtime and low second-quality rates..

KGS DIAMOND has developed dedicated flexible diamond tools for porcelain foot and base finishing, combining long tool life, fast grinding rates and highly consistent surface quality. Our solutions are tailored to automatic linear and rotary polishing machines, semi-automatic surface grinders and manual operations, helping tableware producers and related markets achieve stable, repeatable finishing results with fewer process steps and reduced operational costs.

Focused on porclain foot finishing

KGS DIAMOND has built a strong position in the porcelain industry by focusing on one critical detail: the foot and base of the ware. Our flexible diamond tools are designed to deliver smooth, uniform finishes that reduce scratching and second-quality claims, ensuring that tableware meets both functional and aesthetic expectations.

Flexible tools for automated lines

KGS Flexis® and Telum® belts and discs are engineered for modern automatic polishing machines, including linear and rotary systems from leading OEMs. Their flexibility allows them to follow complex base geometries, while robust backings and precise diamond patterns provide stable grinding performance and long life in high-volume production environments.

Proven cost and quality effects

Compared with conventional abrasives, KGS flexible diamond tools offer significantly longer life, higher cutting rates and more consistent finishes. This enables manufacturers to reduce the number of grinding steps, shorten changeover times and lower overall abrasive costs, while maintaining or improving the quality of the porcelain foot and base.

Complete solutions from line to spot repair

Beyond automatic foot polishing, KGS provides a full range of tools for semi-automatic grinding, sanitary ware finishing, spot repair and refractory maintenance. From large belts and discs to spiral belts, small QRS discs, handpads and sheets, we support every stage of the porcelain finishing process – including defect repair before re-glazing.

Applications

KGS DIAMOND tools are used throughout the porcelain production process. Core applications include automatic wet polishing of the feet and bases of plates, bowls and cup rims on linear and rotary table machines, as well as semi-automatic grinding of oversized or complex pieces on surface grinders.

In addition, KGS spiral belts and small belts are used for cleaning and finishing sanitary ware, while small QRS discs, handpads and sheets support local defect removal, edge refinement and spot repair before re-glazing. For kiln furniture and refractory components, specialised QRS discs are applied to tune and maintain batts, ring and plate setters and similar parts.
